Penguins and kids!

Last Friday I had fun. I went over to a friends house and she invited some other people and I did a craft with all the kids and she made lunch for us all. I decided to a do a penguin craft because of winter. I got into it a little too much ๐Ÿ˜Š I went to library and checked out a few books on penguins so I could read them a story before the craft. I had everything prepared for them in little bags, made clothes pin magnets with their name on it and was set. It was amazing - all seven kids, age 2,3 and five all sat at the table and worked on the craft! Every kids penguin ended up looking a lil different but were cute! Below is the end product.

Craft time

Today I spent the afternoon with my friend Natalie having craft time and hanging. She called it an adult play date๐Ÿ˜Š we had a lot of fun.

She had seen in magazine and then on YouTube how to make these super cool paintings. You use acrylic glaze on clay board and then a heat gun to make it have texture. It was really cool watching the paint bubble. You can also use regular acrylic pain for different things and gesso to add different effects. It was so fun and we made happy messes!

Here is a link to the YouTube video.

Pumpkins and crayons

I
Today I got crafty with my friend Lori. It was a lot of fun but also sorta messy. We first painted pumpkins with her two little ones which they loved! Then Lori and I did our pumpkins. You simply take a white pumpkin and glue peeled crayons onto the pumpkin and then melt the crayons with a hair dryer- it was very simple and very fun. Make sure if you do this beware of crayon wax splatters. We melted the crayons with putting the pumpkin in a box, which worked great- your other option just do it outside and watch out!

Left foot & sewing!

Well, yesterday I went and saw Dr. A for my left foot results from MRI. For the last two weeks I've been in a big black boot and things just seem to be staying stagnant. The MRI shows that I have "extreme stress reaction on meterarsal number three" meaning I have a horrible stress fracture, dr a said would almost be better if it was just a regular break. Ugh. So, because the location is so strange right in middle of foot that it need to be stabilized, protect it and I need to be off it as much as possible. He said we are looking at a two month minimum recovery. Ugh. It turns out a cast is the better option for a few weeks Sooo I was put in short leg walking cast and will go back in three weeks. I wanted purple but they were out so i went blue. Then "Big M" Dr.As nurse practitioner wanted to add more material to the cast so we two toned and did orange, after all it is football season soooo LETS GO BEARS! Sandra came over and made my toes look all pretty too.The other thing the MRI showed was the damage that has been done to certain bones in my foot, it's not as bad as we originally thought which is nice. (I put a picture of a foot to show you) I will see Dr A right before thanksgiving.

Today, I went to my friend Debbie's house. I love Debbie she is such a good person and full of so much love and compassion. She is a great seamstress and had offered to teach me to sew! Today was lesson number one! She showed me the machine and we did basics, sewing a straight line, sewing on a curve, back stitching, top stitching, turning things inside out and how I iron things. I ended up making a headband! Now, we were just using scrap fabric and used what was around which today we used duck cloth and it was nice and stiff and "flowed" easily among the machine which was nice. It was a great first lesson and I can't wait for more! Debbie then made a wonderful lunch for us and then she sewed my jeans because they waist bands got too big and needed to be taken in. I'm looking forward to sewing lesson and lunch next week!

Fort Wayne Trip

Today I got home from my first trip away in two and half years! I had a WONDERFUL time visiting my sister and her kids in Fort Wayne. It felt SO nice to go somewhere and by myself! The drive both ways was beautiful- i love the Midwest in the fall! Heather has a very welcoming and beautiful home! When I got in their guest room she had a cute little basket to "welcome" me - it had cute little Bath & Body Works set, a fun mug & tea and cozy socks-so thoughtful! When I was there the kids had school and Eric worked & had to coach so I got lots of sister time.  I had a really great time and am SO thankful everything with my RA and Addison's stayed under control so I could enjoy my time there.  I did learn that traveling & being away with RA can be challenging - I will write more on my thoughts on traveling later- for now enjoy some of the pictures of time away!
Me and my older sister Heather
Due to the fact that I am not on as many meds and certain meds anymore I got the ok right before I left to have wine! So Heather got some great wine for use to enjoy at night while we hung out and watched Dancing with the Stars and other TV shows at night!
On Tuesday I called it "Mandy and heathers day of fun" It was such a nice day out we went out to lunch and sat outside in the sun! Then Heather treated me to No Chip Manicure - we got pretty fall colors (picture doesn't do it justice). After our manicures we went to hobby lobby because it was right next door and I couldn't resists, plus we were planning on crafting later. Heather works at bakery and makes Ice Cream Cakes, so she took me to her store and I met her friend Suzy and got to get a yummy cupcake-her store is SO cute! After visiting her store we went to Starbucks then picked up Abby and Jake from school. Then we headed home where she made our grandma wickwares -yummy apple crisp...it was great day
Abby had half a day on Wednesday and had her friend sleep over.  We had gotten fabric at hobby lobby so I made them matching satin flowers. The girls also collected leaves so Heather and I could wax them and make her a leaf garland as well.
Abby and I being silly on the ipad. I had lots of fun with Abby this trip as well. She was home every day after school and had a half day as well one day. We did lots of giggling, played barbies, watched movie and I helped her with some of her homework.

Haley and I tried to take a nice picture together but she couldn't stop laughing! We had fun at night talking. On Wednesday we spent the afternoon braiding hair, playing on pinterest and watching Friday Nigh Lights. We talked high school and how at times in life its so much better to laugh and things then cry :)
my nieces! My nephew Jake was "too cool" to get in any pictures and was very busy keeping up with social life, as most 14 year old freshman boys are. It was great to see Jake as well-hes gotten so tall!
This is Simon. He is such a fluffy, fun and snugly dog. We bonded.
Driving home after a great trip!!

Random Review: Sunday Seven

1. I made some new headbands!

2.  All my disability paper work came and I have started the process of filling it all out and getting it the people that it needs to go to. It is a LOT of work.

3. The Weather lately has been SOOO wonderful I can't stand it!! It is so nice to be able to go outside and enjoy it. The leaves all starting to change colors and things look beautiful.

4. My class room is all packed up and things are home here in my house. So I need to begin to unpack it and organize all the stuff.

5. I had one of the BEST Carmel apples ever with my sister on Thursday from a place downtown called Grahams - seriously the best I have had.

6. Friday was crazy! I went to coumadin clinic and they canceled our appointment upon arrival, turns out the nurse Barb died that morning very suddenly and in the office - horrible! So Sad. Then we went to the NEW infusion center in and it is SO nice. Chairs are nicer, more room for people who come with you its beautiful only down fall no windows. Well, i got poked TEN times for my IV and they could NOT get it. So i was sent to the other infusion center. In between centers I drank three bottles of water and rubbed my arms and they got the IV in ok. The infusion then went how it typically goes and I feel like i typically do- yucky.

7. I had acuputunure on saturday and really helped my headache adn lowered my aches and pains.
